Microgaming Level Up Online Video Poker
Published on: August 5, 2012
Microgaming runs a series of online video poker games titled Level Up. The variants in this series include Aces & Faces, Deuces Wild, Double Poker, Jacks or Better and Joker Poker. The basic rules and payout tables of each variant is the same as in the regular games. However, the playing mechanism has been tweaked to make it attractive to players who are willing to take higher risks. Level Up video poker is played over four hands. These are not played simultaneously in the multi hand games, but one after another. Players move to the higher level only if they win at the lower level.
The player first selects the coin dimension and the number of coins wagered per hand. As in the regular video poker hands it is preferable to wager with five coins to be eligible for the royal flush jackpot payout. Four times the amount is taken from his balance being the wager for each of the four levels. If the player loses in the first level then he forfeits the entire amount wagered, without even playing the higher levels. Players are dealt five cards in each level. The first level cards are deal face up, whereas in the other levels the cards are dealt face down. Each level uses an independent full deck of cards.
The game play in Level Up poker is the familiar one. The player decides which cards to hold. If the Auto Hold feature is enabled, the winning combinations are automatically marked as hold. The remaining cards are replaced. If the player finally draws a winning combination he is paid as per the payout table, but the winnings are not yet credited to his balance. The player then advances the second level and the dealt hand at that level is exposed. If he draws a winning combination at this level he is paid at twice the rate given in the payout table. Winning in the third level results in a payout of 4 times and winning in the fourth level results in a payout of 8 times.
Any time the player loses, he cannot proceed to higher levels, but is entitled to the amounts won till then. However, he has the option to wager this amount in a double or nothing gamble game. If the player wants he can collect his winnings. In the gamble game one card is dealt face up and four cards are dealt face down. The player has to pick one of the face down cards. If it is higher ranked than the exposed card, the player wins the gamble game. If the player loses then the amount staked is forfeited.
Level Up video poker has two useful features. The first of these is the Free Ride Card. This card can randomly appear next to the dealt hand. In that event the player will move to the next level even if he does not get a winning hand. The second feature is the Auto Complete. It is possible that the player is dealt a natural royal flush at a higher level, but fails to reach that level. In that event the Auto Complete feature offers a compensatory payout. Level Up video poker games are live at all Microgaming online casinos like All Slots, Platinum Play, Gaming Club and Roxy Palace.
