RTG 7 Stud Poker
Published on: September 28, 2011
7 Stud Poker is a video poker game from the online casino software provider Realtime Gaming (RTG). Like in other video poker games, the final hand is compared with a payout table. But this is where the similarity with other online casino video poker games ends. The other games are based on draw poker, in which the player is dealt a five card hand and can replace as many cards as he wants. 7 Stud Poker is a stud poker variant in which the player is dealt seven cards and has to choose the best five. To make the game more interesting the cards are revealed in stages with the option to increase the wagered amount in between.
The game begins with the player transferring credits from his account balance to the video poker machine, as is the practice in RTG video poker games. The player then selects the coin size, which in 7 Stud Poker ranges from $0.25 to $5.00. The player the places the ante wager consisting of 1 to 5 coins. The first and the third cards of the video poker hand are revealed. At this stage the player can place another wager of up to the ante wager and the fifth card is revealed. Another similar wager reveals the sixth card. Finally the player can place his fourth and last wager and then all the remaining cards are revealed. The player is not compelled to place intermediate wagers. He can at any stage short circuit the process by clicking the Deal All button without placing additional wagers. This will immediately reveal his entire hand.
The payout table begins with the Three of a Kind hand ranking. It is important for players to note this and not wager additional amounts for lower ranked hands. Starting with the Three of a Kind hand is not a disadvantage for two reasons. The player gets to choose the best five card hand from the seven cards dealt. Actually this choice is made automatically by the software. And there is a Joker in the pack that acts as a wild card. Therefore the payout table shows the Five of a Kind hand ranking. As players wager additional bets, the amounts in the payout table increase to show actual total payouts. The numbers in the payout table are not payout ratios. If the final five card hand does not correspond to a payout table hand ranking then the entire wagered amount is lost. If it corresponds to a payout table hand ranking then the appropriate payout is made.
If the final hand is a Straight or better, players can try to double the payout in a Double or Nothing Bonus Round. In this round six cards are dealt face up and one card is dealt face down. The player must predict whether the face down card is Big (8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, or King) or Small (Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6). If he chooses correctly his payout is doubled, if he guesses wrong then he loses his payout. RTG 7 Stud Poker has an optional Bonus Bet that must be placed upfront. It offers considerably enhanced payouts for Four of a Kind, Straight Flush and Royal Flush hands. To win the Bonus Bet, players must place all four wagers and the winning hand cannot use a Joker.
7 Stud Poker can be played at all RTG online casinos like Club World, Win Palace, Slots Plus, Cherry Red, Slots Jungle and Silver Oak.
