Texas Hold'em Shootout from Wager Works
Published on: April 28, 2010
Texas Hold'em Poker is by far the most popular gambling game. In live casinos players compete against each other in cash games. However in online casinos the player is constrained to wager against the dealer. This takes away some of the excitement from the game. WagerWorks offers a variant of this game called Texas Hold'em Shootout that through its many special features replicates the game as played in live casinos. It is one of the most exciting variants of Texas Hold'em Poker found at online casinos.
The player starts the game against two computer opponents, funded by the house, called bots. The rules of play for the bots are decided by a somewhat complex structure so as to give it a semblance of realism. The player need not know these rules not understand them. Through the course of the game one of the bots will fold and the player's final hand will be matched against that of the remaining bot.
The player is not paid out as per a payout table should he win as is the case in many of the online casino Texas Hold'em Poker games. The amounts wagered by the player and by the bots form the pot, which can be seen to grow on the screen as the wagering progresses. If the player wins then the entire pot is added to his credit balance. If the player loses then the pot goes to the house.
The sequence of wagering is identical to that followed in live casino Texas Hold'em Poker games. The player places the ante bet and clicks the Deal button. The bots do not place any ante bets. After the pocket cards are dealt the bots move first. They fold, call (1x the player’s ante bet) or raise (2x the player’s ante bet). Then it is the turn of the player to make his move. In addition to the three common options the player can go all in. This option in live casino games means that the player wagers all his remaining chips. In Texas Hold'em Shootout all in means that the player will wager 8x the ante bet. If the player goes all in then one of the bots matches the player’s all in wager and all the community cards are dealt without any intermediate betting and final hands compared. The player can go all in only after the pocket cards are dealt and before the flop is dealt.
If the player does not go all in then the flop is dealt and the player can check or bet. If he checks he does not place any further wager and if he bets he places a wager equal to his ante bet. The bot wagers in exactly the same fashion as the player from this stage onwards. The turn card is dealt and the betting process is repeated. Then the river is dealt. There is no betting after the river is dealt. Cards are compared and the winner collects the pot.
Certain features are provided in Texas Hold'em Shootout so as to make the game more convenient for the player. The Turbo mode does away with card dealing animations and considerably increases the speed of play. There is a Rebet1 button which repeats the earlier wagers and a Double Rebet button that doubles the earlier wagers. Texas Hold'em Shootout can be played at all WagerWorks online casinos like Virgin Casino.
