Several countries have been notified by the European Union that they are in violation of the fair trade agreements the EU is set up on.  France and the United States are just two countries who have recently been under scrutiny for their practices.  Now Belgium has been targeted by the EU regarding their online casino laws.

The EU received laws from Belgium regarding online casinos.  These laws were reviewed by the European Union, and found to be in violation.  There are specific areas according to the EU that Belgium is breaking the laws.  Like France, Belgium is trying to make their internet service providers block online casino gambling sites.  The European Commission stated this is in direct violation of trade agreements.  They have stated that Belgium cannot have this law.

The Belgium laws have not yet passed due to the need to show them to the EU first.  However, the EU stated that if Belgium passes these laws they will take action against the country such as fining them.  The EU has already been following this type of procedure with the US and France.

The US has ignored the grace period the EU gave them to fix the online gambling laws so that they apply to the trade agreements.  Still the government has refused to do anything, as the US feels economic recession is more important to deal with than an unfair trade law regarding online gambling.  However, if the US does not soon comply they will be fined for the improper legislation.  Barney Frank is one person trying to get the laws changed in favour of online casinos.

Luckily for United Kingdom players they do not have to worry about these laws.  Instead the UK has been very open in letting in online casinos. They have one of the largest online casino industries right now.  Many casinos are licensed in Gibraltar and operating in the UK.  These online casinos constantly update their online slot games, poker variations, and table games that they offer online gamers.
