EcoCard Joins Many Others and Exits From the US Gambling Market

Published on: July 20, 2007

It looks as though another e-wallet is leaving the US gambling market.  The payment facilitator known as Eco Card ahs begun to inform gambling firm operators that they are pulling the service from all US clients.  A spokesperson, David Brickman from The Jackpot Factory states,

“EcoCard has informed us - and I'm sure other casinos as well - that they will be pulling out of the US gaming market and replacing their EcoCard payment option with a new option. They will transfer their existing US customers over.  Only players who have accumulated $500 or more in (gaming) transactions will be invited to move to the new payment method."

Apparently rumors of the EcoCard’s departure have been circulating for a few weeks now and the statement by Brickman confirms it.  However, the company, whom has been in business since 2000, has yet to make a formal statement regarding the gambling industry exit.

On the bright side of the British companies actions, it seems as though EcoCard clients won’t have to worry about any of their funds being held from them, as many did (and are still without funds) when  NETeller got mixed up with the US laws.  EcoCard customers will be able to withdraw their funds and some, will simply, have their funds automatically transferred over to a new service.

As of now, there is no news on what this new service will entail or be called but once a statement is made from EcoCard Ltd. hopefully more information will available.
