Israel Joins List of Banned NETeller Clients

Published on: July 25, 2007

The online payment processors, NETeller, who are known for their services in the online gambling world announced last week that they will no longer be accepting any transactions from Israeli customers that have anything to do with online gambling.

As of July 19th at 12:01 am the e-wallet company began the block of every transaction that was and will be attempted at being transferred to any online gambling site.  And as of July 31st, the group will cease any transfer from any online gambling site to an Israeli clients account.

The reasons for these actions by NETeller, who have already banned US, Canadian and Turkish clients from making any online gambling transactions, is due to the uncertainty of the legality of online gambling activities in Israel’s near future.

A recent press release by NETeller stated: "Recent legal developments have increased the uncertainty regarding the legality around certain activities related to online gambling in the Israeli market,". And continues, "The company has, therefore, concluded that the group will no longer process transfers related to online gambling sites on behalf of Israeli resident customers."

As is the same in the other banned countries, NETeller clients in Israel are still able to use their online NETeller accounts to purchase any other product or service, just as long as it is not related to gambling activities.
