Online Gaming Payments Taking Time To Process

Published on: July 25, 2008

Morris Mohawk Gaming Group, a leader in online casino gambling and the license holder for the North American version of Bodog, has made it a point to let their players know why it has been taking so long for the payouts to process.  When asked point blank about it, Alwyn Morris, the CEO of the company, pointed the finger directly at the UIGEA.

Players have been complaining to the different websites they play on that it is taking a lot longer to process their payouts than it did prior to the passing of the UIGEA.  It used to take mere hours for players to receive their winnings from their gaming site of choice, but now it is taking weeks.  The length of time isn’t the only problem.  Many players have stated the withdrawal request process has become more complicated and longer to go through.

It’s not that players aren’t getting their money.  It’s just taking about 40 days to receive from start to finish, Morris commented.  Regulatory difficulties, thanks to the UIGEA and the fact that casino gaming websites have had to find other payment sources for their players, have only compounded matters and have been cited as the cause for payment delays.  Many financial institutions have been intimidated by the UIGEA ruling and the United States government, which is why most online casino, poker, and sports betting websites have banned American players.

The few websites that do offer services to American players have endeavored to find new account processors that are willing to take the chance and accept money from the players in the United States.  The problem that has been compounding the payment situation is that adapting the systems these new processors use to work with the many different casino websites takes time.  It also takes time for the websites to reprogram their methods to match the processors.  It’s a two sided battle.

Morris has emphasized that customers will get paid and that the casinos are solvent and have their money.  The checks are being written within 24 hours of being requested by the player, but the lag time between issuing and receiving is simply a processing issue between Morris Mohawk Gaming Group and the new payment processors that they are using to accommodate their American customers.  The company is constantly reviewing their providers to make sure that their players get their money in a reasonable amount of time and considering any new options that come available.
