PKR poker, one of the most popular online poker sites, announced that they are hosting the Oktoberfest celebration for the second year in a row.  The Oktoberfest will begin on October 17, 2008 following PKR’s Super Series and the site is offering more than $260,000 in cash prizes to participants of the celebration.

This year’s Oktoberfest will feature 12 events over 12 days on the many different poker rooms available at PKR.  The celebration will end with a PKR Masters event and a Tournament of Champions event.  The Tournament of Champions event will bring together the best players from the Oktoberfest series for a chance to win $5,000 and the champion title.  According to PKR’s card room manager Neil Wright, "Last year's festival was a huge success, and this year's will be bigger and better.  We are looking forward to achieving our biggest prize pool ever in the PKR Masters."

The prize pool for this year’s event – a cool $260,000 – is almost double the guaranteed prize pool from the 2007 Oktoberfest.  The events are also varied so players can compete in their favorite games for a slice of the pie.  The events are designed to appeal to players of all skill levels and bankrolls and there will be speed and long running deep stack tournaments scattered throughout Oktoberfest’s 12 day schedule.  There will also be Terminator and bounty tournaments PKR announced in one of their press releases.  In these types of tournaments, each player has a ‘bounty’ on their heads – a monetary value for the game.  Players who are kicked out of the game have their bounty given to the player who won their hand.  Up to 50% of the prize pot is allotted to player bounties.

Player’s interested in participating in the event can play in satellite tournaments for all of the events.  The range of satellite events for the Oktoberfest celebration is massive, giving everyone a shot at winning a seat in the tournament schedule.  There are also lotteries available for players to take part in as an additional way of winning a seat in this year’s event.

PKR will also be offering all of their players a chance for 15 minutes of fame.  Players who make it to the final tables will be televised across Europe and on YouTube.  PKR has not yet released the final tournament schedule, and players interested in participating in the events are advised to check the website periodically for the final tournament schedule and list of satellite events and lotteries.
