Spain opens up Online Casino Gambling

The European Union has been focusing more and more on online casinos. They have made several edicts regarding countries that have made it near to impossible for foreign online casinos to enter the market. Sweden, France, Spain and the United States have been under scrutiny to allow online gambling. The European Union has made it clear that any country that does not make it easier for fair trade in online casino gambling will be charged. The charges can be several million dollars.
The United States has yet to fall under the pressure the European Union is placing on them. However, there is a bill being circulated to gain support. Barney Frank has been trying to get a bill passed to legalise gambling in the U.S. If the bill is passed several of the Las Vegas casinos will try their hand at online casinos. Harrah’s has already set up to get a license once the law is passed. Other countries like the United Kingdom online casinos have stated they will move into the market. In fact several of the online casinos that used to be in the United States before 2006 have stated they will return.
It is this pressure from the European Union which has changed Spain’s current stand on online gambling. Two major online casinos have just applied for licenses to offer their online casino in Spain. Bwin and William Hill have decided they are going to enter the market.
Spain is one of the larger countries that is about to open up for online gambling. Since they are going to be a larger market it is appropriate that many big online casinos enter the market. In order to succeed in business it is important for expansion. The online casinos understand this, which is why they are anxious to get into Spain.
The online casino operators are having to negotiate for the licensing deals, just like they will have to in the United States when it is opened up. Kelly Gray, an observer of current online casino moves stated that the Spanish Internet gambling market is important. Several individuals believe they will become one of the largest in the world once they are fully functional.
The European Union is backing off Spain now that they are getting ready to offer online casinos, as well as allowing foreign companies into the market. We will all have to wait and see if the Spanish online casino world becomes one of the largest.
